Feeling insecure as a photographer? Know this, growing your skills – is the way to growing your creative confidence!
We all born with great amount of confidence. We admire ourselves in the mirror and believe we can do anything! But sadly, too many times we lose it, in the whirl of life. Lets face it; the environment, society with high expectations tends to tear it from us too easily. Having confidence means that you trust yourself and your abilities. It is something you can grow in any area of your life.
When you are just starting out as a photographer, is therefore, totally normal to feel insecure. If you got the passion and you got the courage to put your soul and effort into your work, your confidence will grow along with your learning process.
We are all more confident in some areas of our lives than others.
Does that tell you something? It tells, that when you can trust that you can do something you can feel confidence about it. The first thing I suggest is that learn the basic techniques to using your camera. When you know how to creatively use your camera and you are photographing with manual settings – that is the first huge step forward to feel confidence as photographer. If there’s something you don’t understand – learn it, google it, look the manual book of your camera, look from youtube, take a course or ask someone who knows. Grow your skills – grow your confidence!
Secondly; practice, practice, practice. Try different things, test and learn and when you got it right your confidence grows again. I promise <3
It`s also very important not to take setbacks too seriously. This will only hurt your trust to yourself. Learning takes time. It contains more setbacks than success. Be open minded, take risks to become what you aim for and remember that all levels are necessary. I talk more about surrendering to the joy if creating in my post about passion and impatience here,
